Venger Wind signs deal to deliver 60 Venger Wind Turbines to the Philadelphia Eagles Stadium.
The NFL franchise announced that it will invest $30 million to generate its own clean energy at Lincoln Financial Field, using a combination of Venger Wind turbines, solar panels and a co-generation plant run on biofuel. Signing a special “Go Green! Team's Declaration of Energy Independence” at a special ceremony, the Eagles pledged to have the first major sports stadium to convert entirely to self-generated distributed energy.
Florida-based renewable energy company SolarBlue has been hired to install the 60 vertical-axis wind turbines from Venger Wind on the top rim of the stadium along with 2,500 solar panels on the stadium's façade. Together, the wind, solar and co-generation facilities are set to generate just over one billion kilowatt-hours of electricity over the next two decades.
We believe in the power of wind.
As early as the 7th century, windmills were used for grinding grain, pumping water and other industrial purposes. By 1900 more than 6 million windmills were in use for irrigation across North America. The first commercial scale operations for electricity generation were built in Denmark in the 1920s
Wind power is a clean, reliable source of power in more than 70 countries and is becoming a low-cost option for generating electrical power that delivers substantial benefits in terms of jobs, investment and rural economic development.
At Venger Wind, we see wind power as an awesome opportunity to create a clean future and a huge contributor to our quality of life. Please join us in making a difference for our communities, families and children of the future.
